Kate joined Arena in 2017 as a Co-Founder. She is currently Executive Vice President at Avalanche Strategy and has over a decade of experience in electoral politics, advocacy, and public engagement. Prior to her work at Arena, Kate was Senior Vice President and Director of Learning at 270 Strategies, where she worked with candidates, causes, and companies to build digitally sophisticated, grassroots campaigns. She has led trainings on campaign strategy, management, and organizing in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, with participants from more than 40 countries. Kate has worked seven election cycles, but credits her experience on Obama ’08 and ’12 as the most integral to her approach today. Kate holds a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University, and lives in Oakland with her partner, Conrad, and their dog, Louie. In her free time, you’re likely to find her writing, taking in a film, hiking in the redwoods, or nerding out on behavioral science.
Republicans have spent decades cultivating talent and investing for the long run, and right now we’re paying the price. Republicans control 30 state legislatures, 28 governors mansions, and are just a few seats away from regaining control of Congress. Together with an activist Supreme Court, they’re enacting policies that turn back progress on everything from abortion to voting rights to climate change.
Arena is building a new generation of political leaders who will lead the fight to save our democracy and build progressive power for the long run. It’s going to take all of us to make change. Join us in this work.
